In Summary

Salah has now collected 45 goal involvements this season (27 goals and 18 assists) and overtakes Thierry Henry and Erling Haaland who both managed 44.

Mohamed Salah celebrated his new contract extension at Liverpool with an assist as the Reds moved closer to the Premier League title with a hard-earned 2-1 win over West Ham United at Anfield Sunday afternoon.

Salah set up Luis Diaz with some excellent forward play to hand the home side an early lead at Anfield with just 18 minutes on the clock.

West Ham looked to have earned a draw when they shocked the home side with an 86th-minute equaliser through an Andy Robertson own goal, but Van Dijk rose highest just three minutes later to hand Liverpool the lead once more.

The win gives Liverpool a 13-point lead with just six matches left and will be champions next weekend if they beat Leicester City and Arsenal fail to beat Ipswich Town.

Salah has now collected 45 goal involvements this season (27 goals and 18 assists) and overtakes Thierry Henry and Erling Haaland who both managed 44.

Salah will be looking to either reach or break the current assist record that is currently shared by Henry and Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.

In London, Chelsea blew the chance to take fourth spot once again following a disappointing 2-2 draw with relegation-threatened Ipswich Town at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were forced to come from behind to earn a point.

Julio Enciso (18) and Benjamin Johnson (31) gave the visitors a shock two-goal lead, but an own goal from Axel Tuanzebe and a late equaliser from Cole Palmer earned the home side a point.

The draw means Chelsea are on 54 points and in fifth.

They have played two more matches than Newcastle, who have 53 points.

With Nottingham Forest, who sit third only four points ahead of seventh-place Newcastle, it will make for an interesting battle for Champions League spots.

In the midlands, Wolves more or less secured safety for this season with an impressive 4-2 demolition job on the under-fire Tottenham Hotspur.

Wolves were in deep relegation trouble 12 weeks ago, but an inspiring run of form since Vitor Pereira took over the club has seen them rise exponentially.

Ryan Ait Nouri (2), Jacob Strand Larsen (64), Matheas Cunha (86), and an own goal from Djed Spence (38) earned the home side the three points.

Mathys Tel (59) and Richarlison (85) were on the scoresheet for Spurs, who stick in position 15 on the log with just 35 points to their name.
